Paul Grisewood

Head of School
B. Ed, B.A.Ed (Australia)

Paul has 26 year’s experience in education, with many of these in various leadership roles. He is familiar with independent and international schools in many countries including Australia, UK, Russian Federation, China and Japan.

He has worked his entire career in private schools as a teacher, phase coordinator, deputy, Head of Primary, Principal, Head of School and consultant supporting international projects and inspecting schools globally.  He has had the privilege of being a school governor and a proprietor of an independent school in the UK.

He was the Head of School of a British School in Japan previously and has led an IB school in China also. Paul joined us in 2018 from Moscow, Russia, where he was School Director.

He has experience with various international curricula including the IB and has led schools through international CIS and WASC accreditation reviews and has inspected schools as part of these teams and others also.

Australian by birth and British by citizenship, he enjoys the challenge of leading schools. Gaining his degrees in Australia and further education in the UK, he has a strong interest in pursuing best practice in schools.

He is married to Julie and they have two beautiful children Morgan aged 11 and Eva 10.

Betsy Hanselmann

Principal Secondary (MYP and DP)
Deputy Head of School

is a highly qualified and experienced IB Secondary Principal. An American citizen, Betsy has held leadership and teaching positions in IB schools in Europe and Asia for almost 20 years.

Betsy has gained a Masters of Education and Education Administration from Grand Canyon University, Arizona and a Bachelor of Science, Biology at Tufts University, Massachusetts. Betsy’s most recent posting was Head of Secondary at the International School of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia an IB World School, where she has served in a leadership role for ten years.

Betsy is fluent in German and conversational in speaking French. Betsy is accompanied by her husband Stefan. They are the proud parents of two IB Diploma graduates.


Principal Early Years (ELC) and Primary (PYP)

Anna is a passionate and innovative early childhood educator who has taught in Europe and Hong Kong.

As Principal, Anna has successfully lead her previous school in Hong Kong to become an authorised International Baccalaureate IB school. She has a Bachelor of Arts, English Language and Literature, a Post Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Kindergarten Principal Certification.

Anna is greatly influenced by the world famous Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education and the inquiry based teaching approach used by the International Baccalaureate IB.

As a teacher she uses innovation to provide the best education possible for the children in her care and as a leader she inspires and motivates her team always scaffolding their learning to create success.

Todd Bazley

Director of Learning – Primary
Music and Visual Arts Thought Leader

is a qualified IB teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Music and a Graduate Diploma of Primary Teaching from Dunedin, New Zealand.

Todd has also undertaken leadership training in the education sector. He has experience teaching the Australian, New Zealand and International Baccalaureate curricula. Todd has taught Grades 2, 3 and 5 students as well as being an ICT specialist and Sports Coordinator.

He studied music all through high school and then went on to study Music Technology and the Music Industry at university.

Todd is also passionate about rugby and personal fitness and strongly believes in teaching about living a healthy, active lifestyle.

Melanie Forbes-Harper

MYP Coordinator
Health & Physical Education Thought Leader

is a highly qualified international teacher with IB experience. Melanie has a Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Exercise & Health Science from the University of Western Australia.

Melanie is an IB graduate, receiving her IB Diploma from PTIS International School, Thailand. She has worked in International Schools in China and Australia and is also been a qualified swim instructor in America.

She is an enthusiastic and energetic teacher, with a positive and open approach to tasks and challenges. She is passionate about providing students with the necessary tools to create and maintain healthy and active lifestyles.

Nellie Hiku

ELC3 Thought Leader

is a highly qualified international teacher. Nellie has a Bachelor of Teaching from the University of Waikato, New Zealand and a Diploma of Teaching Early Years from New Zealand Childcare Association.

Nellie is a passionate Early Years teacher. She also speaks several languages including English, Maori, Indonesia Bahasa and Mandarin.

She enjoys meeting people from around the world and learning about their culture, language and cuisine. Nellie also enjoys to travel and likes to get an active lifestyle.

Thomas Lebreton

ELC4 Thought Leader

is a highly qualified international teacher with IB experience. Thomas has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from University of Nottingham, a Master of Marketing from Curtin University in Australia and a Bachelor of Business & Administration from EGC Business School in France.

He believes education is, and always has been, society’s pedestal. For the past two years Thomas has been teaching in China. He is fluent in both English and French.

Thomas is married to Melanie Forbes-Harper who is also a Thought Leader at AISPP. His interests include badminton, beach volleyball, fitness, swimming, surfing and paragliding.

Carly Honey

Foundation, Years 1 & 2

is an enthusiastic educator with a Bachelor of Education from Auckland, New Zealand.

She has taught both in Australia and New Zealand. Carly has experience teaching students with a wide range of abilities having worked in an integrated mainstream and special education school.

She has organized and coordinated many extra-curricular activities and events for students and successfully delivered the Australian Curriculum, significantly raising literacy and numeracy levels in 90% of her students.

Carly inspires her students to strive for excellence, to be problem solvers, risk takers and global citizens who take pride in their behavior and the way in which they interact with their world.

Katie Abarr

Years 3 and 4

is an IB qualified teacher who has attained a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University and a Teaching Licence for Elementary Education both from the USA.

Katie provides students with an exciting, positive learning experience; instilling in them curiosity, enthusiasm and a passion for seeking their own challenging learning opportunities.

She has taught Grades 4 and 5 using the Primary Years Program PYP of the International Baccalaureate IB.

She is a stimulating and enthusiastic teacher who thrives on working collaboratively and bringing people together through a mutual interest in learning, exploring and sharing.

Katie always challenges her students, ensuring that their learning is always the central focus.

Sophie White

Year 4 Thought Leader

is a highly qualified Australian teacher. Sophie has a Graduate Diploma of Education from James Cook University in Townsville, Australia and a Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Ballarat in Australia. She has spent the past eight years working in Melbourne Australia.

Sophie is passionate about science, the environment, conservation and sustainability. She enjoys providing innovative and exciting learning opportunities for students

Christelle Bazin

Year 5

is a widely experienced educator and a highly qualified International Baccalaureate (IB) teacher.

Christelle taught in the United Kingdom before joining the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) and then worked in The Hague, Netherlands and Cardiff, Wales, to further develop the IB Middle Years Program (MYP).

Following this she went on to work in the IB Primary Years Program (PYP) at an International School in Korea. Christelle was awarded a Bachelor of Arts – Language and Literature from the University of Nantes and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom.

She has successfully collaborated with educators around the world. Christelle strives for excellence in the classroom; providing students with opportunities to develop their critical and creative thinking to explore personal and global issues from different perspectives.

Adam Clark

Years 6 and 7

is an IB qualified primary and middle years teacher. Adam has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Human Geography and Sociology from Keele University, UK. Although a British citizen, Adam has has spent most of his life growing up in Singapore.

Adam attended United World College of South East Asia UWCSEA and is an IB diploma Graduate.
Adam is married to Josephine Simmonds, one of our Early Years Thought Leaders. Adam is a keen footballer, cross fit trainer and an expert at publishing our news and blog articles using his social media skills.

Timothy Hilgenberg

Maths and Science Thought Leader
(MYP & DP)

is a highly qualified international teacher. Timothy has a Masters Degree in Philosophy from the Birkbeck College, University of London and Postgraduate Certificate in Education from University of Warwick.

He has worked in various international schools in Kuwait and the United Kingdom. Timothy speaks a wide range of languages including English, German, French, Russian and Spanish.

Timothy is married to Stacy Hilgenberg, who is the Librarian at AISPP. Timothy has a wide range of interests from science, current affairs, languages and philosophy. He is well traveled and enjoys the practice of yoga.

Rosalind Paterson

Visual Arts Thought Leader
English Language and Literature Thought Leader

is a highly qualified international teacher with IB experience. Rosalind has a Masters in Education from University of Melbourne Australia, a Masters in Arts Writing from Swinburne University and a Masters of Fine Art from University of Western Australia.

She encourages students to develop character strength, nurturing with respect and a growth mindset. She is a proactive mentor who believes creativity emerges from open mindedness.

Rosalind’s interests include equestrian, skiing/snowboarding, polo and tennis. She also enjoys being an active member of the debate team, developing the school yearbook and newspaper.

Marc Ritter

Health and Physical Education

is a qualified IB teacher with a Bachelor of Science and Economics and a Teaching Certificate in Secondary Education Civics and Government from Pennsylvania, USA.

Marc is dedicated to developing global citizens in a natural learning environment through inquiry. He believes his well-rounded life experiences bring a unique influence to teaching.

Marc has been able to learn and experience the world through his many travels around the globe, professional work and education.

Along with his certification in Education, his degree in Economics has provided occupations in the financial sector including Internet startup companies all the way up to Fortune 500’s. He has most recently been teaching at Chadwick International School, Korea.

Nicole Li Hoi Yu

Mandarin Language and Culture

Nicole is a widely experienced teacher with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (English) from The Hong Kong Institution of Education, Hong Kong.

Nicole also has a Bachelor of Computing Systems and a Certificate in Business Computing from Eastern Institute of Technology in New Zealand.

Nicole has global experience from Hong Kong, New Zealand, Australia and Cambodia. She is also fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

Her ability to connect with her students is an asset in ensuring that their learning is always the central focus.

Chhum Chantra

KhmerLanguage and Culture

Ms Chantra has a Bachelor Degree in English from the University of Management and Economics, Banteay Meanchey Province.

She also has a Certificate of Pedagogy (Secondary School) from Regional Teacher Training College, Battambang Province, and a Certificate of Pedagogy (Primary School) from Teacher Training College, Banteay Meanchey Province.

Ms Chantra is an experienced Khmer and English teacher and holds Cambodia in her heart.

Her passion for Cambodia is shared with her students and our international Thought Leaders and brings a positive impact to everyone at AISPP.

Stacy Hilgenberg


is a highly qualified international teacher. Stacy has a Master in Education from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater in the USA.

She has taught in Kuwait and the USA and is an enthusiastic and energetic teacher who enjoys publishing school printed media.

Stacy married to Timothy Hilgenberg, who is a Maths and Science Thought Leader at AISPP. She loves to travel to new places around the globe and spend time with family in the US & Germany. Stacy also enjoys hiking, cooking and arts.

Todd Martinez

Operations Manager

is an IB qualified middle years teacher. Todd has a Bachelor in Professional Studies from Southwestern Assemblies of God University. He has taught at private and international schools in South Korea, China and USA. He also speaks both English and Spanish

Todd is married to Jill Martinez, and together they have two children at AISPP.

Jill Martinez


Jill Martinez has a broad range of experience. She has taught English and ESL for 16 years in US public and charter schools as well as Asian international schools. She has also coordinated an ESL program.
Outside of classroom experiences, Jill has served as a magazine editor and an administrative assistant to a university dean.
Currently, she is wrapping up her Masters of Education degree.

Julie Grisewood

Community Development

Julie has a wealth of diverse experience in both independent and international schools globally in the areas of marketing, admissions, community development, charity, relations and including website development, uniform policy and resource procurement. Her experience has seen her work with project teams establishing schools internationally. This included advising school clients regarding enrolment and admissions processes, parent teacher associations, school events, international resource procurement, staff support and transition programmes and project management.

Josephine Simmonds

Learning Support Coordinator

is a highly IB qualified primary teacher. Josephine has a Graduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in English and American Literatures from Keele University, UK, a Diploma in Counselling and Psychology from the College of Allied Educators (Singapore) and an Advanced Certificate in Dyslexia and Literacy Teaching DAS Academy (Singapore)
Josephine has taught Special Education in Singapore and has a real passion for Learning Support for our students.
Josephine is married to Adam Clark, one of our Middle Years Thought Leaders. Josephine is also a yoga enthusiast and offers yoga classes for our students in the RISE Program.
