Today we kicked off the new school year with our annual Opening Ceremony as a way of welcoming all returning and new students. With warm greetings by our teaching and administrative staff, our students were smiling, excited to meet their classmates and were ready to start their first day at school. 

To begin, our Head of School, Mr. Paul Grisewood, addressed students and parents with his welcome speech. Ms. Betsy Hanselmann, our Deputy Head of School, introduced new academic staff. Our new students were also introduced and given a warm welcome to help inspire them for the journey ahead.

Mr. Robert Hyndman, PYP Principal, led the Student Council in a student pledge while Ms. Carly Honey and Mr. Tim Hilgenberg led the educators’ pledge to show their commitment to being excellent educational professionals.

Next, students and parents set academic goals for the year, which they wrote on lotus petal-shaped papers.  Refreshments followed along with a cake cutting ceremony.

Finally, the Head of School rang the school bell to officially beginning of the academic year.
