Middle Years
(Years 6 - 10)

AISPP follows the Australian Curriculum standards, taught through the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework, providing academic rigour and a focus on the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills for future success.

The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally-minded young people who can empathise with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. It is guided by three principles that have special currency for students in Years 6 to 10: holistic learning, intercultural awareness and communication.

The programme empowers students to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. This approach is embodied in the MYP Personal Project, a culminating experience of student-driven inquiry into topics and interests of their own choosing. Learning in the MYP is skills-based and concept-driven. This means there is an emphasis on the application of knowledge in new and sometimes unfamiliar situations. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
